Remember Ben Starr from last year’s MasterChef? The eccentric chef with a penchant for colourful berets has teamed up with fellow contestant, Jennie Kelley, for a series of supper clubs called Frank Underground in their hometown of Dallas. The pair serve a multi-course dinner for donations only, and dinners have been selling out in under five minutes. So it sounds like there can be life after MasterChef.
Williamsburg’s Radish, a delicious take-out store and catering business, just announced it will be launching a new supper club once it moves into its newly-purchased event space where it plans to host dinners for up to 75 people. And it’s going to be quite the venue, complete with a marble white bar, Mexican tiles, and bamboo floors. Sounds like it will be an instant hit on the supper club scene.
Finally. What we have all been waiting for – booze at Smorgasburg. Starting this Saturday, Brooklyn food market, Smorgasburg, will be introducing Smorgasbar. Now you can enjoy your Asia Dog hot dog or Milk Truck grilled cheese with a Kelso beer in hand. Other boozy vendors will include Sixpoint, Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn Winery, and Kings County Distillery among others.
