Bottom’s Up: Inside Good Beer 2012

Here’s some Good Beer maths: over 25 beer and food pairings + going back for seconds = very full and very tipsy.

There’s good reason Good Beer sells out every year. Bring together restaurants and eateries like Gramercy Tavern, Mile End, Back Forty, Northern Spy Food Co., and Luke’s Lobster, and breweries ranging from Ommegang to Hoegaarden, and don’t hold back. Last night Good Beer took over 82Mercer with unlimited food and drinks for one delicious, boozy goodbye to Good Beer Month.

Standout dishes on the night go to The Saint Austere‘s addictive pork belly croquetas with chicken liver dipping sauce, Mile End’s skewers of confit chicken gizzards wrapped in lamb bacon, The Vanderbilt‘s summer sausage with pickled cherries, and Gramercy Tavern’s green curry with striped bass and shrimp, all washed down with Bierkraft‘s refreshing Berliner Weisse with a splash of housemade strawberry and ginger syrup. Or 508 GastroBrewery‘s aromatic Belgian-Style Golden Strong Ale. After so many sips, who’s keeping track?

Judging by the tipsy stumbles down Mercer St in SoHo around 8pm last night, this is a party you won’t want to miss next year.
